An exhilarating journey through the many languages of jazz.

Legendary multi-instrumentalist James Morrison joins Omega Ensemble for an unmissable program! The evening begins with classics from the Great American Songbook by Ellington, Gershwin and Porter, reimagined through Morrison’s unmistakable musical voice and brought to life through fresh, intimate chamber arrangements.

Morrison and his quartet then unite with the Ensemble for an inventive A–Z of Jazz Suite, moving through the sounds of blues, swing, bebop and ballad. Playful, virtuosic and richly varied, the suite celebrates the evolution of jazz.

Gershwin’s iconic masterpiece, in a new arrangement by CoLAB alum Andrew Howes, closes the concert with a bang! Created especially for Morrison, his quartet and Omega Ensemble, it places Morrison’s improvisational brilliance at the heart of Gershwin’s electrifying fusion of jazz rhythm, soaring melody and concert-hall drama.

Bold, joyous and effortlessly entertaining, this performance is a celebration of jazz in all its richness, brought to life by one of Australia’s most extraordinary musical icons.
