Powering up the majestic Steinway grand piano, Guy Noble, conductor, writer, broadcaster and all-round musical entertainer takes you on a laugh-filled journey through the amazing world of classical music. Featuring JS Bach, Wagner, Mozart, Schubert, Harry Connick Jr, the Australian Taxation Office, Michael Bolton, and many others.
With original songs and sailing very close to the wind of political correctness, Guy Noble's Very Serious Guide to Classical Music will keep you entertained from 6.30pm all the way through to 7.45pm, when we can all go to dinner.
Joining Guy will be Very Special Guest Star bass-baritone Jud Arthur and introducing Sicily's favourite Mezzo-Soprano Ophelia Ciabatta.
Guy Noble
Guy Noble is a pianist, conductor and writer who has worked with major Australian orchestras and international touring artists including Harry Connick Jr, Randy Newman and Olivia Newton-John. He has also conducted leading orchestras across Asia and Europe, and Opera Queensland’s La bohème. A regular at the Sydney Opera House, he has performed over 400 times as host and pianist with Opera Australia, and his Last Night of the Proms concerts with the Sydney Symphony. A former presenter on BBC Radio 3, ABC Classic and ABC TV, Guy has written and produced three musicals and contributed to Limelight Magazine for over 16 years.
Jud King Arthur
New Zealand-born bass Jud Arthur is a leading figure on the Australasian operatic stage, performing more than 40 roles with companies including Opera Australia and New Zealand Opera. His repertoire spans Mozart, bel canto, Wagner and contemporary works. In 2026, he performs Verdi’s Requiem for Opera Queensland/Queensland Ballet and appears in the world premiere of George Palmer’s The Drover’s Wife. A longtime principal artist with Opera Australia, his roles include Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Timur (Turandot), Banquo (Macbeth), Colline (La bohème) and the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), among many others.
Ophelia Ciabatta
Sicilian-born mezzo soprano Ophelia Ciabatta is known for her spirited performances of operatic favourites that combine a sweet lyric tone with fiery southern-Italian choreography. This concert featuring a passionate rendition of the Habanera from Bizet’s Carmen and marks Ophelia’s City Recital Hall debut.
