Selby & Friends in 2023 presents a stunning range of brilliant Piano Trios performed by an enviable ensemble of guest artists from Australia and internationally. This upcoming season is full of treasures and we hope you will join us for this gorgeous new season of Selby & Friends.

Mon 27 March, 7pm

The seasons kicks off with the wildly popular Café Music, followed by two iconic pianos trios from the Romantic repertoire. Featuring American cellist Clancy Newman and award-winning violinist Alexandra Osborne.

Mon 8 May, 7pm 

Two brilliant young artists perform alongside Kathryn Selby in a delightful program that shines a light on the incredible diversity of the piano trio genre through the influence on these three composers of country of birth, customs, culture and heritage.

Iconic 'Fathers'

Mon 10 July, 7pm

Selby & Friends is delighted to welcome back Natalie Chee and Julian Smiles after a covid-interrupted tour in 2022, presenting three iconic trailblazing composers whose influence exploded previous conceptions to pave an entirely new path forward.

Three Stages of Man

Mon 4 September, 7pm 

Celebrating the three stages of man, this program begins with the youthful, talented Lili Boulanger, arrives at the succinct genius of Brahms at the height of his powers, and finally concludes at an elegy to the memory of a great artist by Rachmaninov as he remembered Tchaikovsky.

Final Statements

Mon 6 November, 7pm

The final program for the Season brings together two brilliant artists of the younger generation who are making great waves now they are back in Australia. The program opens with Copland’s famous ‘Vitebsk', followed by the passionate and powerful Arensky Piano Trio No.1, and finishing with Schubert’s delightful great piano trio composed in the last year of his life.
