They changed the course of electronic music. They scored cult classics (Thief, Risky Business, Legend). They pushed the boundaries of ambient, psychedelic rock and synth. 

Now, for the first time in over 40 years, Tangerine Dream returns to Sydney for a special performance at Vivid Sydney 2025. 

Formed in 1967 by the late visionary Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream has influenced generations of artists — from Radiohead to M83 — and remain pioneers of the Berlin School of electronic music. The current lineup, handpicked by Froese before his passing, continues to carry the band’s legacy forward — blending analogue synths, hypnotic rhythms and cinematic soundscapes in a way only they can. 

Expect a journey through their sprawling discography, from early experimental works to the driving arpeggios of their iconic film scores, all brought to life in the unparalleled acoustics of City Recital Hall.

Phondupe is sonic talisman Rich Lucano, a multi-dimensional electronic artist who has found himself nestled in the ambient realms in recent years. 

Known for layered electronica and hyperactive soundscapes, 2024 saw the release of TORSO - an album of meditative piano works, both hypnotising as they are a punch-to-the-guts. 2025 greets Air Conditioning Vol. 2 - an album of long-form ambient works, following the popularity of its predecessor on streaming platforms. 

A dynamic performer, Phondupe’s live shows fuse his various shades into an alchemic haze anchored by delicate motifs and unbridled heart. He has supported the likes of Jon Hopkins, Kiasmos and Machinedrum, graced stages such as Dimensions Croatia and The Sydney Opera House, and exhibited a large 360-degree visual installation of his ambient composition “AMA” at Vivid Sydney 2023.
