Under the moniker Soccer Mommy, Sophia Allison has carved out a space all her own in the indie rock scene – somewhere between the fuzzy guitars of the ’90s and the emotional rawness of bedroom pop.
Her latest album, Evergreen, dives deeper into her signature sound – pairing wistful lyrics with dreamy melodies and just the right amount of edge.
Live, Soccer Mommy’s shows are intimate and transportive, blending stripped-back moments with energetic performance. A not to be missed show from the Nashville darling.
Supporting Soccer Mommy will be Asha Jefferies and Ruby Gill.
Celebrating the release of her debut album Ego Ride - Australian singer-songwriter and frog enthusiast Asha Jefferies joins Soccer Mommy on all Australian dates.
An album that speaks to an audience of deeply-feeling listeners searching for the courage to take a step of faith, without knowing where it will lead, Ego Ride presents 13 tracks that revisit two years of words and actions on loop - choices to speak or to stay silent, moments of stepping into or retreating from change. On first listen, its titular track seems to lay out the beats of her escape from a failed relationship. In fact, Jefferies is breaking free from herself.
Following the album's release, Jefferies embarked on an extraordinary touring journey, performing across the UK and Europe, with highlights including showcases at The Great Escape, Reeperbahn, playing alongside Courtney Barnett, Lord Huron, Hana Vu and Margaret Glaspy, as well as her own headline shows. Earlier in the year, she ventured to the USA, playing SXSW Austin and one-off shows in Los Angeles and New York.
Joining Soccer Mommy as she takes to the stage at this year’s instalment of Vivid Sydney is Joburg-born, Narrm-based musician Ruby Gill.
If anyone can silence a room, it’s Ruby, whose arresting lyricism, honesty and deadpan wit have already garnered millions of streams, awards and radio play from triple j, to BBC and KCRW. Ruby’s “melancholic lyrical wizardry” has earned her the reputation of unmissable, with her Australian Music Prize-nominated debut record ‘I’m gonna die with this frown on my face” landing at #5 on the AIR Independent Album charts and met with Sunday Times’ coveted “Breaking Act” accolade and worldwide acclaim in September 2022.
