Two of experimental pop’s most compelling voices share the bill for a rare night at the Hall.
Norwegian duo Smerz make their long-awaited Australian debut, performing from their acclaimed new album Big City Life. Described by Clash as “a fizzing postmodern fairytale that captures the chaos and wonder of city living,” the record cements their reputation for turning tension, tenderness and club minimalism into something uniquely magnetic.
Joining them is New York’s James K, performing from her intimate and otherworldly new album Friend - a collection of songs that drift between dreamlike pop, fragile noise, and emotional honesty. A constant in the experimental underground, James K’s live performances are equal parts delicate and disorienting, pulling listeners into her strange, beautiful world.
Together, Smerz and James K will transform City Recital Hall into a space of deep mood and immersive sound, somewhere between a club, a performance, and a lucid dream.
This is an 18+ event. Please note all tickets are general admission standing.
Joining Smerz & James K is special guest Kidskin

Kidskin is the music project of Rahnee Bliss: where spectral vocal calls and dream-state swells move to the rhythm of a body snapping industrial bass thrum.
'Heaven' follows Kidskin’s debut single 'A21'. Where 'A21' was throbbing and searing, 'Heaven' stretches into the deep and atmospheric, with a sun drenched synth pivot at the 4 minute mark that turns the song right around. A testament to the scope of Bliss’s production, vocal range and vision.
