On a single night, two lovers confront longing, desire and confession.

Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night), inspired by Richard Dehmel’s haunting poem, follows two lovers walking beneath a moonlit sky, their fears and desires laid bare.

This hyper-Romantic sextet unfolds in striking contrasts and luminous intensity, as love and 8 absolution transform darkness into a place of understanding and resolve.

This seminal work leads a program that ventures into intimate inner landscapes, exploring the shifting terrain of emotion, memory and renewal. Jessie Montgomery’s Rounds, winner of the 2024 GRAMMY Award, begins with a single repeating idea that spirals into intricate motion, while John Corigliano’s Soliloquy is a tender elegy of reflection and restraint, carrying the weight of memory while seeking solace in beauty and stillness.

In a world premiere clarinet concerto, Paul Stanhope blends rhythmic vitality, clarity and invention with a deeply human lyricism, bringing to this program a compelling contemporary voice that is both personal and transcendent.
