Everyone loves Esmé
In 2024 Australian audiences fell in love with the Esmé Quartet.
The Quartet's musicians won hearts with their fearless virtuosity and deep insights into the quartet repertoire. Nearly ten years after winning the International String Quartet Competition in London, the Esmé Quartet is now a global phenomenon, with tours across America, Europe and Asia; and residencies in LA and Seoul.
Their return tour is the classic Esmé experience: a deep dive into the quartet canon paired with passionate advocacy for inspired voices. Here those voices include American-Korean composer Juri Seo's atmospheric river at the end of the mind, written for the Esmé Quartet, and American Romantic composer Amy Beach's only quartet. To complete the program, two of the most beloved works for four strings: Schumann's quintessentially Romantic A-major quartet, and the extraordinary 'Harp' quartet of Beethoven.
This performance is currently available as part of a Musica Viva 2027 Season Subscription.
