Experience the wit and warmth of Bach’s playful Coffee Cantata and Telemann’s touching Canary Cantata.  Pinchgut brings these “tiny operas” to life — vivid, inventive, and utterly human — revealing the theatrical spark and emotional depth of two Baroque masters in distilled perfection.

Part two of Pinchgut’s Bach and Telemann series dives into the irresistible charm of their cantatas — delightful “tiny operas” brimming with wit, warmth, and humanity.

Bach’s playful Coffee Cantata captures the comic tug-of-war between a coffee-obsessed daughter and her disapproving father, while Telemann’s Canary Cantata offers a tender, heartfelt tribute to a beloved pet.

With director Warwick Doddrell bringing his fresh theatrical insight to Pinchgut for the first time, and Erin Helyard leading the indomitable Orchestra of the Antipodes, these vivid works celebrate the drama, humour, and emotional nuance of everyday life. Vibrant, inventive, and utterly human, this is “tiny opera” distilled to perfection.
