A Soul Disco Dance Party

Annie & The Caldwells are a family from Mississippi that play a powerful disco soul, led by mother, Ms. Annie Caldwell. Their music won’t only move you spiritually, but emotionally as well — with songs that are as much at home in a Church of God as in the church of the dance floor.

Their new album, Can’t Lose My (Soul), on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label, is 40 years in the making and has become a sensation in the USA and Europe, from a 5-star review in The Guardian UK which called the album “a gospel masterpiece” to Elton John insisting “you must get the album!”

And when it comes to live performance, MOJO Magazinecaught Annie & The Caldwells’ showstopping performance at the 2024 Le Guess Who? Festival in The Netherlands and reviewed it as “The most exciting, most dynamic family of faith imaginable: their rhythm section (dad and two sons) would give the Family Stone a run for its money; the front line (mum and daughters) have unquenchable sass and spirituality, and the crowd doesn’t need persuading to crash the stage and be saved by songs. It feels like 2025 may already be their year.” Amen to that!

Ms. Annie herself runs Caldwell Fashions in West Point, Mississippi — which has been a beloved staple for women dressing for COGIC (Church Of God In Christ) convocations and church anniversaries since the ’80s. It also happens to be the setting for the film clip for the first single off Can’t Lose My (Soul) – the total bop Wrong

For their Australian debut performance, Annie & The Caldwells will be joined by Chicago legend, Rahaan, who has been spinning his trademark brand of funky disco and house since the late 80’s. Rahaan is renowned for his steady remix and edit output, with his reworks featuring on key labels (BBE), and tracks steeped in dancefloor groove with the sole intention of moving the floor. Look out for Rahaan’s remix of Annie & The Caldwells I Made It

Rahaan will be playing an opening set for Annie & The Caldwells then will reprise Nicky Siano’s "Nicky & The Caldwells” set at NYC’s Public Records with an exclusive “Rahaan & The Caldwells” turn following the headline performance.

And a disco disclaimer: it’ll be hard to resist getting down to this one! (As New York just found out!). For those ready to dance the night away, choose level 1 for general admission (standing), or level 2 for seated.
