Torchbearers of Dunedin’s legendary Flying Nun sound, The Chills reign triumphant after 40 tumultuous years.
Martin Phillipps wrote immortal songs (‘Heavenly Pop Hit’, ‘Pink Frost’, ‘I Love My Leather Jacket’, ‘The Doledrums’), then confronted mortality, as poignantly documented in The Chills: The Triumph and Tragedy. Now, The Chills are in a buoyant new phase of creative vigour and consistently brilliant showmanship that has wowed fans the world over.
This is pure pop for the new normal, with a setlist packed with the timeless gems that have made The Chills one of the most loved NZ groups of all time.
8pm: John Sharkey III
9pm: The Chills
Please note: theatrical haze in use
Philadelphia-born, Canberra-based singer-songwriter John Sharkey III opens the night with a suite of devastatingly beautiful roots music born of hope and despair, accompanied by Nick Craft (Sidewinder).
