Dynamic and multi-talented, Umberto Clerici is a brilliant cellist and conductor who has charmed audiences nationally with his humour and wit for over a decade. A soloist and chamber musician much in demand and formerly the Principal Cellist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, don't miss this special opportunity to hear and get to know Maestro Clerici in a program of works for cello and piano with pianist Kathryn Selby.

With a musical career spanning 20 years and a burgeoning reputation as a conductor, Umberto Clerici is an artist of multifaceted talent and ever-increasing renown. As a musician, he has been the Principal Cellist of the Teatro Regio di Torino and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared with a host of distinguished orchestras across Europe. His conducting fixtures include Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, with additional stints at the Izmir and Istanbul State Orchestras, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Orchestra della Valle d’Aosta.

Kathryn Selby, AM is the Artistic Director of the popular nationally touring Selby & Friends concert series and co-founder/Artistic Director of A Little Lunch Music. A former student of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Kathy has won countless awards, accolades and competition prizes from around the world. She has performed with several of Australia’s top orchestras and appeared in many internationally renowned festivals.
