Venue and Staffing

The Artist may, and subject to City Recital Hall's prior written approval, supply specialist technical personnel for the purposes of the Event.

All personnel provided by the Artist must:

  • have minimum industry standard qualifications;
  • operate the Hall Facilities in accordance with the Artist Guidelines;
  • comply with WHS Legislation;
  • comply with City Recital Hall's dress code; and
  • comply with any reasonable directions of City Recital Hall.

The Artist acknowledges that City Recital Hall's authorised Staff are entitled to supervise and provide directions to, staff supplied by the Artist but without any responsibility or liability of City Recital Hall in that regard. 

The Artist agrees:

  • Operation of the Hall’s technical equipment must be carried out or overseen by City Recital Hall's technicians;
  • Stage and/or backstage access can only be granted after consultation with City Recital Hall's Stage Manager;
  • City Recital Hall's Stage Manager approves access to the lighting grid on each occasion. The Artist’s personnel working in the lighting grid must complete a location specific safety induction prior to the first occasion of working in the area;
  • Ladders and risers are available to the Artist for the safe working at height;
  • Penetrating any surface by drilling, nailing or otherwise is not permitted;
  • Painting of any item on the stage floor is not permitted unless otherwise agreed and supervised by City Recital Hall's Stage Manager;
  • Spray painting, fibre glassing and cutting of MDF are not permitted in any area of the venue;
  • Adhering items to walls or other surfaces is not permitted, except with direct permission of City Recital Hall's staff who will advise the appropriate tape or adhesive;
  • Spike boards or donuts must be used by all double bass and cello players;
  • Dressing rooms are to be vacated as agreed with City Recital Hall's Stage Manager;
  • Artist’s instruments, equipment, sets, properties and costumes must be removed from the venue by the conclusion of the Event; and
  • Unless otherwise advised by the Artist, posters and other marketing collateral will be disposed of appropriately at the conclusion of the event or once date-marked materials have expired.

City Recital Hall reserves the right to exclusively conduct merchandise sales in connection with the Event and retains the right to conduct merchandise sales in addition to those conducted on behalf of the Artist

City Recital Hall may grant the Artist permission to conduct merchandise sales or conduct sales on the Artist’s behalf if requested. In either case, City Recital Hall will retain the Merchandising Commission of 10% of gross sales, applicable Merchant Card Fees and Staff Fees related to the sale of Merchandise in the Event Settlement Statement. If City Recital Hall gives permission for the Artist to conduct merchandise sales, the Artist will not be entitled to conduct such sales using the services of any third party contractor unless that contractor has public liability insurance with cover of not less than A$20 million per occurrence in place in respect of such services, with City Recital Hall’s interest noted on the policy, and the Artist provides City Recital Hall with a certificate of currency for such policy.

City Recital Hall must, after the Event, provide the Artist with a statement setting out details of the Merchandising Income and Merchandising Commission, Merchant Card Fees and Staff Fees (Event Settlement Statement) and pay the balance to the Artist.

Should the Artist conduct merchandise sales, the Artist must within three (3) business days, after the Event, provide City Recital Hall with a statement setting out details of the Merchandising Income. The Merchandising Commission and any applicable Staff Fees will be deducted from the final fee payment.

The Artist indemnifies CRH against all liabilities, losses, damages, costs and expenses incurred by City Recital Hall relating to the sale of merchandise.

Photographing during an event is subject to the following requirements:

  • photographers or videographers engaged by the Artist must not interfere with patrons’ enjoyment of the performance and must not at any point obstruct the views of patrons,
  • camera shutters must be on silent mode,
  • under negotiation with City Recital Hall, photographers may take photos near the stage for the first ten minutes of the performance after which time the photographers must reposition to the standing area on Level 1,
  • placement of tripods must be discussed with City Recital Hall prior to the performance. Tripods must not be placed in aisles, or obstruct egress at any point, and

City Recital Hall reserves the right to ask any photographer or videographer to leave the venue if they are deemed to be causing a disturbance to the performance or to patrons.

Promotion

The Artist must refer to the Venue as City Recital Hall in all formats and media

  • Always refer to City Recital Hall in full (not CRH)
  • Do not refer to the Venue as ‘Angel Place’ (unless referring to location of venue)
  • Do not add ‘the’ before the Venue’s name, i.e. ‘City Recital Hall’ and not ‘the City Recital Hall’

The Artist must provide City Recital Hall the following content for advertising and publicity purposes. The Artist warrants that it holds the permissions for republishing the images, video and audio supplied.

    • Landscape
    • Portrait
    • Include image credits in file names
  • Video (min 30 seconds)
    • MP4
  • Audio (min 30 seconds)
    • MP3

The Artist must only use City Recital Hall's logo (Trade Mark) with City Recital Hall's prior written consent and, if such consent is provided, must only use it in the format specified. City Recital Hall must approve every use of the logo.

The Artist agrees to share the event page and any promotional content supplied on social media, and to tag all posts related to the Event using the handle @CityRecitalHall

The Artist agrees to undertake reasonable publicity to promote the event as requested by City Recital Hall.

Ticketing

  • City Recital Hall may provide complimentary tickets to the Artist.
  • The Artist must not sell Complimentary Tickets.
  • The Artist must provide a complete Complimentary Ticket attendee list, including full names and contact telephone numbers. The Attendee list must be received 48 hours prior to the Event, or the Thursday prior if the Event falls on a weekend. Incomplete or late-submitted attendee lists will only be issued at City Recital Hall's discretion and the Artist acknowledges that their invitees may not be admitted or seated together.

City Recital Hall may provide the Artist with a Ticket Sales Report as agreed between City Recital Hall and the Artist.

Other than as set out in the Guidelines, City Recital Hall is not required to account to the Artist in relation to Ticket Sales.

City Recital Hall owns all information it collects from patrons including on the Attendee list.
