AUDIO

Acoustic Baffling

Acoustic tuning may be achieved by the use of acoustic baffles located along the rear and side walls of Levels 2 and 3. Assuming a full house, use of the baffles will reduce the reverb from 1.8 seconds (no baffling) to 1.2 seconds (full baffling). They are operated mechanically from Prompt Side (PS).

Acoustic baffles cannot be adjusted during a performance.

Due to the live nature of the auditorium, we strongly recommend against the use of lapel/lavalier microphones and would suggest the use of discreet headset microphones for presentations and performances where a hand held microphone is deemed inappropriate.

Stalls Mix Position

Located at the rear and centre of Level 1, in Rows L, M & N (two rows from back of stalls). Seats and floor pieces are removed to reveal a sunken pit where the control desks are positioned.

Total seat allocation depends on amount of equipment required:

Full Size Mix Position:

3300mm W x 1700mm D; 22 seats

½ Size Mix Position:

1650mm W x 1700mm D; 16 seats

Level 2 Balcony and Control Room Positions

The Level 2 balcony can also be used when seating is not required here. The control room located on Level 4 at the rear of the auditorium has sliding glass panels to separate the control room from the auditorium and patching is available here also.

Recording Room

A room for recording concerts with an announcer’s booth is located on Level 2 to the PS of the auditorium. It has an acoustic rated window. Audio, video and intercom tie lines run from strategic points throughout auditorium. There are 3 microphone hoists over stage with patching available to recording room in addition there are several patch points over stage for direct mic drops.

Additional Equipment/PA removal

The venue is able to arrange additional audio equipment such as radio microphones, foldback monitors and other equipment through our technical partners at competitive rates.

For the venue PA system to be taken down and an external system to be used the external system must match or exceed the quality of the venues system. Any system additions/integration or augmentations must be approved by the venue.

Mobile PA

There are 2 Mobile PA systems available for use throughout venue equipped with a small audio desk and 2x speakers.

Projectors

The theatre currently has the following projectors:

  • Permanently mounted Panasonic RZ-120B 12,000 ansi-lumens Laser projector
  • Portable Panasonic VW 535 N 5000 lumens projector

Note: Due to the bright ambiance of the hall and throw distance required from projector positions to screen, we recommend as a minimum using a projector capable of 10,000 to 20,000 ansi-lumen projector.

Our technical partners for AV and broadcast requirements can provide a full suite of vision equipment and services including projector, screen, playback, event recording, webcast, post-production and onsite support.

Please discuss your AV requirements in the early planning stage of your event as screen, projector and camera positions may impact audience sightlines and seating holds for ticketing.

Projector Positions

In house permanent projector mounted under Level 3 balcony- 25 meters to screen

Projector positioned in Level 4 Control Room - 31.5M shot to screen.

Projector positioned on control tables on either the Level 2 Balcony - 25M shot to screen.
