Vivid Sydney’s ultimate day-into-night party Sound Escape will take over City Recital Hall on Saturday 7 June, with over six hours of music, from over 20 bands, solo artists and DJs, across four stages.

Part of Vivid Sydney's Music program, Sound Escape will see City Recital Hall transformed into a surrealist dream of light and sound, with the indoor music festival offering electronic and indie sounds in the main stage Hall of Mirrors, cult queer party Heaps Gay taking over the ground floor Grand Voyeur, funk beats in Bar Eden and a good ol’ fashion rave in The Board Room

Main stage Hall of Mirrors artists are The Jungle Giants (DJ Set), DICE, KLP, POOLCLVB, 2touch, Mell Hall and Eluize. Heaps Gay stage artists are Haiku Hands, Soju Gang, Tseba, Stev ZarFried Pork Chop, prettyboi.zeke and host Rocky Stallone. Lineup for Bar Eden and The Board Room drops in May - sign up for updates. Keep an eye out for special guests throughout the night, including from performance art icons The Huxleys.

And while the party goes on inside, outside Angel Place itself will be bathed in light for the free Sound Walk experience for the night.

Access to Sound Walk, the outdoor light installation at Angel Place is free, made possible by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

Sound Escape is an 18+ event.

Line-up subject to change.

About the Sound Escape image

Created by Sydney-based 3D/VR artist  David Porte Beckefeld, the Sound Escape artwork symbolises different layers of the event's experiential touchpoints. David is known for his abstract digital artworks sculptured in virtual reality and brought to life with CGI, this artwork features motion captured camera movements which walk the line between real and imagined.

The artwork is based on City Recital Hall’s red-hued foyer, which will become home to one of the Sound Escape stages. In the artwork, David’s signature sculptural lines meet the three elements of the event – light, food and music. David hand-sketched the sculpture's form, photoscanned and measured the foyer, modelled both the space and sculpture and used 3D/CGI software to light, texture, animate and render the final result seen.

David will also be art directing elements within the Sound Escape indoor music festival experience.
