Sachiko Furuhata-Kersting was born in Yokohama Japan 1965, started playing the piano at age 3 and later completed her piano degree at Academy of Music in Tokyo. She continued her studies in Germany at the Academy of Music Detmold and the Robert Schumann Academy in Dusseldorf. Her teachers include Arnulf von Arnin, Robert Szidon, Detlev Kraus, Naoyuhi Taneda and Willem Brons. She has participated in Masterclasses of Prof Lieske (Salzburg), Prof Ringeissen (Weimer) and Prof Szidon (Sion). Soloist in Rachmaninoffs Second Piano Concerto with the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra of Uluanovsk in 2003. Currently embarking on her Take is as it Comes World Tour in Berlin, New York, Toronto, San Francisco, Sydney, Auckland and Oxford UK.
