Longing to spend your lunch hour device-free and served with a slice of serenity?
Drop in for City Recital Hall’s long running series of lunchtime concerts, A Little Lunch Music. Each concert is an hour of musical escapism performed by some of Australia’s best artists. Take your pick from one (or all!) of 12 events in 2019, and return to the rest of your day feeling uplifted and inspired.
Following his triumphant 2018 tour with Selby & Friends, award-winning Canadian violinist Alexandre Da Costa returns to City Recital Hall with some of the most beautiful and virtuosic music from Spain, Germany and eastern Europe. From the romance of Tchaikovsky and Wagner, to the virtuosity of Kreisler and the passionate flamenco and gypsy melodies of Sarasate and De Falla, this is a performance that will leave you humming any number of tunes for the rest of the afternoon!
Recognised as a musical prodigy and virtuoso, Canadian born Alexandre Da Costa has performed over two thousand concerts around the world and received many national and international awards, including the 2012 JUNO award and first prize in the Pablo Sarasate International Violin Competition. Living for many years in Spain and Austria, Da Costa has played and recorded as soloist with more than a 100 different orchestras including London’s Royal Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Symphoniker, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the National TV and Radio Orchestra of Spain, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, and many more. A Sony Classical artist, his latest recordings include ‘Stradivarius at the Opera’, and the Tchaikovsky violin concertos. Artistic Director of the Laurentians International Music Festival, and touring year-round, Da Costa performs on a Stradivarius of 1701.
