Selby & Friends opens the 2017 season celebrating the glorious diversity of piano trios with Artistic Director Kathryn Selby, brilliant young Australian violinist Grace Clifford and bravura cellist Clancy Newman.
Kathryn Selby is pleased to announce that Selby & Friends is celebrating International Women's Day by supporting the important work of the Katrina Dawson Foundation. Selby & Friends is donating 50% of the proceeds of ticket sales for this season-opening concert from now until the concert on the 8th March to the Foundation.
The Foundation's Board are honoured to be assisted by Selby & Friends and Kathy is delighted to be supporting a cause she feels strongly about. The Foundation aims to deliver educational opportunities otherwise out of reach to inspiring young women.
Patrons will remember Grace Clifford from several years ago when she joined S&F on tour at the tender age of 14! She is now studying at the famed Curtis Institute in the US and Clancy Newman is a favourite with Australian audiences for his emotional and technical dexterity on the cello in addition to his brilliance as a young composer of note. Presenting youthful works by Beethoven and Saint-Saens, the program climaxes with the ever-popular ‘Dumky’ Trio by Dvořák. A season opener to truly relish!
