Natalie Chee and Julian Smiles return with pianist Kathryn Selby in 2018 for this stunning program that explores the way in which composers suffering from depression and grief express themselves through their music. Joined by brilliant young Australian clarinetist Lloyd Van’t Hoff for Messiaen’s ode to suffering – the Quartet for the end of Time – the program also includes piano trios by Beethoven and Schumann. An intriguing homage to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
