Journeys through Europe were an educational rite of passage that flourished through the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries. Searching for art, culture and education through exposure to classical antiquity and the Renaissance, they became extremely fashionable with the polite English upper classes. Tracing our journey through music of the ages and the various cities visited, this is a concert steeped in the wonderment of the European Baroque, featuring music by Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi and others.
