Ticket Info

Across the centuries, around the world: Sydney Chamber Choir’s 2018 season offers a dazzling array of choral treasures. We start the year with the classics, joining with the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra in a concert entitled Pastoral Melodies: Mozart’s Spaur Mass and songs by Brahms, along with orchestral favourites by Beethoven and Mendelssohn, all under the baton of the inimitable Richard Gill. In August, we celebrate the music of our own time and place as we join in the 75th birthday celebrations of one of Australia’s best-loved composers, Ross Edwards, in Celebrating Ross Edwards. And in October, with guest conductor Jonathan Grieves-Smith at the helm, we set sail on a musical journey across the ocean with Behold - The Sea!: epic voyages, mystic and majestic seascapes, storms, shipwrecks and songs of new discoveries.

Pastoral Melodies

Presented by Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra and Sydney Chamber Choir
Sunday 25 March 3pm

Mendelssohn’s idyllic Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, one of the world’s most melodious symphonies, share a program with the rarely performed Brahms Songs Op.104, sung by Sydney Chamber Choir, together with Mozart’s Spaur Mass K.258.

Celebrating Ross Edwards

Presented by City Recital Hall and Sydney Chamber Choir
Saturday 4 August 7.30pm

Ross Edwards is one of Australia’s best-known, most-performed and most-loved composers. Ross celebrates his 75th birthday in 2018 and City Recital Hall joins with Sydney Chamber Choir and percussion virtuosi Synergy for this tribute concert in his honour.

(Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music)

Presented by Sydney Chamber Choir
Saturday 6 October 7.30pm

A musical voyage across the seas from Scotland and Finland to Australia, by way of watery depths, epic journeys, maritime disasters, and island magic between. In music both ancient and new – some never before heard in Australia – Sydney Chamber Choir evokes the mystery and majesty of the ocean, and the courage and tenacity of those who venture out across its vast expanses.
