PRESENTED BY CITY RECITAL HALL, THINK INC. AND AUSTRALIAN SKEPTICS

This event is part of SKEPTICON, A TWO-DAY CONVENTION ON SATURDAY 18 AND SUNDAY 19 NOVEMBER.

Credibility vs. The Incredible: The Professions Behind Mythbusting Dr Brad McKay, Sonya Pemberton, Alan Melikdjanian & Lawrence Leung
Guilty as Charged Kate Browne
Journey to Mars  Alan Duffy (in collaboration with MAAS)

Day One, Session Two will launch straight into some of the most riveting and relevant ideas of our modern age. Come come on a mission to debunk and demystify every bit of bunk science with Dr Brad McKay, Sonya Pemberton and Alan Melikdjanian a.k.a Captain Disillusion as they show you how they use the media to make science and critical thinking more accessible to audiences in Australia and worldwide. These three mythbuster extraordinaires will be followed by star of ABC’s The Checkout, and Choice journalist Kate Browne as she looks into the phenomenon of the ‘guilty parent’. She’ll be examining  just how advertising agencies manipulate parental guilt and anxiety, convincing new parents to buy every baby product from the ridiculous to the downright dangerous. Then, let Professor Alan Duffy launch you into a flight of possibilities. Amidst all the fascination and hype surrounding human exploration of Mars, Alan will be examining the true likelihood of a Journey to Mars, as well as all the technology that promises us the Red Planet with his session, presented in collaboration with MAAS, Journey to Mars.
