Game Changers and Creative Catalysts: James Cameron

James Cameron is a polymath. You may know him best as the highest-grossing film-maker in history (Avatar, Titanic) and he's also a world-renowned explorer and the first person in history to descend to the deepest place on the planet, the Mariana Trench, as a solo pilot. That was in the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, a unique vertical submersible — “a cross between a hot rod and a torpedo painted Kawasaki racing green” — he co-designed and that was built here in Sydney.

A leading voice globally for the protection of the oceans and of our natural environment, James will be in Sydney in association with the Australian National Maritime Museum’s James Cameron – Challenging the Deep exhibition. Join us to hear James share his unusual career path – part scientist and part artist — talk about the technology he’s innovated and the scientific discovery, research, and documentation of new life forms his exploration pursuits have enabled.

He will be joined on stage by Australia’s own polymath – Adam Spencer. Adam is well known to most as a lover of numbers, science, football and films.

The James Cameron Vivid Ideas ticket also includes entry to the James Cameron ‐ Challenging the Deep exhibition at the National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.
