Reuniting for the first time in three years, pianist Kathryn Selby is joined by the dynamic Finnish duo of NZSO Concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppänen and ACO Principal Cellist, Timo-Veikko Valve in a program that celebrates six and seven – six canons by 19th century friend of Brahms and Schumann, Theodore Kirchner based on a charming work for piano by Schumann with Brahms’ famous sextet for strings arranged for piano trio, an arrangement done with the composer’s blessing! This thrilling work is preceded by one of the Russian composer Anton Arensky’s final opuses.
